Our extensive track record and years of experience allow us to point to numerous success stories in the field of logistics.
Success stories

Barcelona Terminal

The terminal in the port of Barcelona, now located at the Príncipe de España quay, as well as being much closer to the accesses to the port, will allow BERGÉ to concentrate all its operations in the same facilities. The resulting lower volume of traffic in the port area leads to greater efficiency and less impact on the environment because of less emissions and transit times.
The terminal has a 73,733 m2 multi-purpose operating area, as well as 295 metres of preferential mooring space on quay 29A and a further 331 metres for Ro-Ro cargo on quay 30A with a depth of 14 and 12 metres, respectively, which will be extended in the future. In order to handle special cargoes, this terminal has different technical equipment such as STS cranes, mobile cranes, reach-stackers, RTG units, tractor heads and platforms.

This operating capacity at the port complements the 40,000 m2 of covered space in the Free Trade Zone which is used for value-added logistics, storage, forwarding or customs warehouses.

BERGÉ manages all types of goods from Barcelona, including general cargo, containers, ISO tanks, Ro-Ro cargo and project cargo. It also offers a range of value-added services, such as the moving, emptying or filling of containers, as well as being agent and representative of several main shipping and cruise lines.

Success stories

Huelva Terminal

BERGÉ’s automated terminal for bulk cargo in its outer port in Huelva improves operational performance in the unloading, transport, weighing and storage of goods from bulk carriers.
It also minimises crane manoeuvring times, increases the storage capacity of the current surface area and enables more efficient movement around the port, allowing BERGÉ to offer customers a more modern and competitive terminal in which productivity, sustainability, efficiency and safety are key.

The terminal project has required the previous facility to be redesigned. To do this, an 11,700 m² warehouse was built with four silos and a storage capacity of 78,000 tonnes for all types of bulk agri-food. In addition to the new terminal, it has two separate 2,250 m2 warehouses, each with a capacity of 10,000 tonnes of goods.

One of the highlights of the terminal is the guarantee that it will operate safely and sustainability, as it is designed to be environmentally friendly, with less visual impact and a reduction in volatile dust and CO2 emissions. This is the result of the effort that BERGÉ has been making in its processes to apply best practices in its technical and human teams and thereby reduce its environmental footprint and save energy.

Success stories

Bilbao Terminal

The terminal in the Port of Bilbao is located in Terminal 2 of the Santurce quay. This infrastructure uses extremely advanced technology with the aim of reducing waiting times and improving the experience of clients, shipowners, manufacturers and companies that ship and receive goods.
The terminal can be accessed via two separate entrances, one for private vehicles, employees and visitors and another that has wheel stops for trucks. Both have technology for controlling and monitoring the arrival and departure of industrial vehicles and using scales to weigh goods, automatically issuing delivery notes and “just in time” information. Another improvement is the implementation of a new ERP system for managing cargo. This will initially be applied to unitised goods but will be extended to other products in the future.

These installations represent BERGÉ’s response to the requirements of the new Union Customs Code (UCC) and their way of offering improved security for individuals and the cargo in their keeping, applying AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) standards.

This investment, together with the collaboration with the engineering company IDOM and the Port Authority of Bilbao, provides a closed and exclusive area for its customers, with more than 125,000 m² outdoor space and 36,000 m² closed storage area, divided into six spaces. Of particular interest is the 7,500 m² semi-automated area with overhead cranes at warehouse number 2 on jetty 2. It improves the maintenance of the reels inside and ensures a more efficient service for customers.
