• Streamlining of customs procedures and delivery times are among the benefits of obtaining recognition as Authorised Economic Operator

The BERGÉ Port Nou port terminal in Barcelona has obtained full authorisation as an Authorised Economic Operator (AEOF) regarding the streamlining of customs/protection and security, in effect as from 1 September.

This authorisation underlines the company’s ability to apply the most comprehensive and efficient security measures in the handling and transport of goods. This strengthens BERGÉ’s position as a reputable economic operator for logistics and customs activity, giving it the edge over its main competitors in a large share of the international markets.

Among the benefits provided by the AEOF standard are the streamlining of customs procedures and delivery times, greater security in the logistics chain and greater prestige when accrediting solvency and business management.

BERGÉ has the only multi-purpose terminal in Barcelona, with capacity for handling any type of goods: containers, vehicles, semi-trailers, conventional goods, special parts, and more. The Port Nou Terminal boasts a surface of 8 hectares, almost 450 metres of mooring space with 14-metre depth from where it offers services to the main shipping lines and cruises.

The Port Nou authorisation, obtained through the BERGÉ Customs Department, guarantees internal control procedures which meet the highest standards set by the AEAT (Spanish Tax Office). This achievement adds to the AEOF accreditation already held by the group in the field of Customs Representative, Port Operations, Ship broking, Shipping, and Vehicle Logistics, where three years ago it achieved the first renewal of this standard since the new UCC (Union Customs Code) came into force.

This authorisation reinforces BERGÉ’s position as a leading operator for the entire customs chain. Offering consultancy services which, combined with the training offer and the customs management itself, allow the company to offer a complete portfolio of logistics services.

In line with BERGÉ’s own Management System, the customs area has developed an action plan based on and structured around the AEO requirements, providing a differential value compared to its competitors.

BERGÉ manages more than 34,000 cases per year in every customs office in mainland Spain and is one of the few customs representatives that offer a customs and AEO consultancy service, together with direct contact with the Spanish Tax Office (AEAT).
