• The company is looking at measures such as crane upgrades, the use of biofuels and installing photovoltaic panels

September 2024. BERGÉ is now part of the Carbon Footprint Register of the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO). Specifically, the calculation refers to scopes 1 and 2, i.e. fuel and electricity emissions produced by activities during 2022, of a total of 22 companies in Spain.

Potential measures include a plan to upgrade port cranes, which is expected to reduce energy consumption by around 26%. The company is also considering using biofuels, installing photovoltaic panels on warehouse roofs and revamping its fleet of vehicles in line with electrification standards.

Having obtained the ‘CALCULO’ seal, which registers the company’s carbon footprint, and through specific reduction commitments, BERGÉ has demonstrated—for the second year running—its dedication to reducing emissions by committing to a low-carbon economy as part of the fight against climate change.

The MITECO Register, which is voluntary, records the efforts of Spanish companies, public bodies and other organisations in calculating, reducing and offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions produced by their activities.
