- New move will enable 300,000 tons of port traffic to be exported per year
BERGÉ has started providing logistics services to the CELSA GROUP in the Port of Tarragona. The first operations have been a success, performing shipments of steel profiles on the Aragon dock using machinery and equipment owned by BERGÉ.
This service will allow the export of an estimated 300,000 tons of port traffic per year, including a range of diverse steel products from the CELSA GROUP’s plant at Castellbisbal (Barcelona), destined for the main port recipients of steel in the Mediterranean.
In this way, BERGÉ will provide CELSA GROUP with storage and port stevedoring services at the Port of Tarragona for the shipments between 3,000 and 7,000 tons of these types of steel products (mostly profiles). BERGÉ is able to offer an extensive team and installations at the Port of Tarragona, as well as proven experience in these types of processes and activities.
This new activity comes after BERGÉ has already worked with different partners of CELSA GROUP such as Global Steel Wire in Santander or Nervacero in Vizcaya.
These latest operations mark a new milestone for BERGÉ in the Port of Tarragona. This location offers 50,000 m2 of versatile operative areas, storage for 150,000 tons and 170,000 m2 for housing vehicles.
Furthermore, BERGÉ further strengthens its involvement in the steel sector as a leading logistics operator (offering consignment, stevedoring, customs management, storage and transport) as well as demonstrating its high efficiency in the handling of goods (from raw materials to finished products: steel coils and tin plate, profiles, wire rod, sheet steel, etc.).
All together, the company will process 5 million tons per year, offering its wealth of experience, resources and strategical locations to the industry.
