• The Asian brand unloads the first units of its electric commercial vehicles in Tarragona.

Maxus, the Asian brand of the SAIC Motor Group and the world’s seventh largest car manufacturer, through its distributor, Automax España, will manage with BERGÉ GEFCO the transport and logistics of its new range of commercial vehicles in Spain, which will be on sale in our country from June onwards.

In this regard, Maxus has chosen the BERGÉ GEFCO logistics centre in Tarragona as the gateway for its vehicles arriving by ship from East Asia, from where distribution for Spain and Portugal will be centralised. In fact, in May, the vessel Crystal Ray (consigned and operated by BERGÉ) arrived at the Port of Tarragona, unloading a total of 2,189 vehicles, including the first units of the fully electric Maxus eDELIVER 3 and eDELIVER 9 models, with a ZERO emissions label, and the Maxus DELIVER 9, with a diesel engine.

The BERGÉ GEFCO multimodal logistics centre, located in the port of Tarragona, has a large infrastructure with a 1 million square metre yard, a storage capacity for 40,000 units, 7000 m2 of workshops and other value-added services. It has electric charging stations for low-CO2 logistics with the latest sustainability technology, 17,000 parking spaces with hail protection and a state-of-the-art car wash.
The high capacity of BERGÉ GEFCO’s own centre is complemented by the flexibility, productivity and frequency of deep-sea vessel calls, which is achieved thanks to the efficient management of the Tarragona Port Authority.
The award of this contract reinforces BERGÉ GEFCO’s strategic leadership in transport, storage and innovative logistics management of finished vehicles in the Iberian Peninsula, meeting the most demanding logistic requirements of international automotive companies.
