- Logistics Spain has awarded the company in the category of ‘Talent’ for its innovative youth employment programme
BERGÉ has received a ‘Logística con Propósito’(Logistics with Purpose) award at the Logistics Spain Fair in the category of ‘Talent’ for its innovative programme consisting of hiring its employees’ children to fill positions during the summer holidays, with contracts lasting up to four weeks.
This youth employment programme was first put into action by BERGÉ in summer 2024, involving a total of 19 young people aged between 16 and 24, all children of company employees.
These young people performed tasks to support various departments including office management, human resources, finance, administration, operations, technology, purchasing, legal and commercial, both at the company’s headquarters in Alcobendas (Madrid) and in the Barcelona, Bilbao and Huelva offices.
During their time at BERGÉ, they had tutors who welcomed them to the workplace, detailed their functions and explained which department they would be working in. At all times, the young people had constant direct contact with the company’s senior employees to answer all of their questions.
The organisers of the Logística con Propósito Awards consider that ‘this is an award for human-centric companies to highlight good practices in different categories related to people, not processes’, according to Laura Nistal, Project Manager at Logistics Spain.
According to Elena Sanz, People Manager at BERGÉ, ‘we firmly believe in the potential of young people and their vital role in the future. With this innovative programme, we are seeking not only to boost the employability of young people, but also to promote careers in logistics. For BERGÉ, it is a commitment to help strengthen and make the logistics industry more competitive, and to transfer this to Spanish industry as a whole’.
