- With the help of Revenant, a company specialising in sustainable remanufacturing, BERGÉ continues to make progress in the renovation of its assets with sustainability criteria.
From diesel to LPG. BERGÉ has worked alongside Revenant, a company specialising in sustainable remanufacturing, for the re-motorisation of a Terberg RT222 4×4 industrial tow tractor, to explore the advantages of using gas in its fleet of vehicles.
Specifically, all components were remanufactured and the original diesel engine was replaced by an LPG/biopropane engine. This was carried out by means of a process with eleven major phases from the initial disassembly to the final quality control in pre-delivery.
With this initiative, BERGÉ continues with its asset renewal and modernisation plan as part of an ambitious investment programme for the coming years with the aim of achieving more sustainable and efficient operations.
The gas significantly improves emissions of NOX and other particles responsible for the greenhouse effect. Moreover, in comparison with diesel, LPG produces 45% less CO2 emissions, 99% less nitrogen oxide pollutants, 63% less carbon monoxide and 70% less hydrocarbons. And the advantage in terms of economic efficiency is also remarkable, given that the current price of LPG is almost 50% cheaper than diesel.
This investment with sustainability criteria comes after the recent acquisition of Liebherr LHM 550 cranes, which represents a significant reduction in atmospheric emissions by using 26% less fuel, as well as featuring mechanical insulation measures to minimise noise, thus reducing noise pollution in the work area.
