- It now has 300,000m2 of warehousing and 3 logistics centres
BERGÉ is celebrating ten years in the Colombian market, a venture that began with its logistics centre in Santa Marta. The company currently operates in the country with three platforms: the one in Santa Marta, plus those in Yotoco and Bogotá, with the capacity to operate 140,000 vehicles per year.
Over the past ten years, the company has tripled its initial installed capacity, now having 300,000 square metres of warehousing, plus a further 3,300 square metres of workshop space.
In total, it currently employs more than 400 people. Furthermore, in logistics centres, 45% of the jobs are held by women, 70% of whom hold leadership positions in the company.
However, the last decade can be divided into two stages: the first as Carport, focusing on work in Santa Marta and the second, from 2021 onwards, when BERGÉ formed its alliance with local leader Transportes Vigía, leading to the current name of Bergé Vigía.
This occurred with the aim of making the company the leading logistics operator for vehicles in Colombia, providing services ranging from reception at the port to final delivery at the dealership, introducing digitalised operations across the board for greater efficiency.
BERGÉ, which is also active in the Mexican market, recalls that the automotive industry in Colombia is worth more than 6% of GDP, and highlights just how much these logistics centres contribute to social and economic development in the regions where they are located, as well as in the country overall.
