AI and other technological challenges in port Logistics

BERGÉ has undergone a significant transformation over the past four years, positioning technology as a strategic pillar that drives, transforms and optimises the business. A change of approach that has required a profound evolution in the operating model, so that technology makes all the gears work more effectively. Investment in technology occupies an important place in the company’s modernisation plan, driving both operational efficiency and adaptability.

At BERGE we are convinced that technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital twins will be key in the evolution of the sector. Hence the incessant preparatory work necessary to adopt these technologies in a sustainable way, and advance in technological maturity so that, when the context is appropriate, they can be fully integrated and maximise their impact.

At BERGE, we have already identified use cases for artificial intelligence that will bring significant value to the business and the client, but their execution requires a solid technological base and a good level of maturity in the organisation.

DIGITALIZING PROCESSES AND DATA MANAGEMENT

In this sense, the company has identified two fundamental pillars, although not the only ones. On the one hand, the digitalization of port processes, that is, implementing a digital management system that allows operations to be optimized through specific software and automatic systems, achieving a much more agile and efficient operation.

On the other hand, data management. In this sense, the quality and accessibility of information is key to decision-making and operational management based on AI and digital twins. To do this, work is being done on capturing and processing data with high quality standards, ensuring that this strategic resource drives competitiveness.

Our future challenges are in line with the topics mentioned above: digitalizing the value chain to be more efficient and provide greater value to customers, incorporating disruptive technologies and, at the same time, achieving a competitive sustainability index within the sector.
