  • The new structure features 8 operations managers, each heading a separate department, who will report to BERGÉ’s Chief Operations Officer, Juan José Ballesteros.
  • Most of these managers already have extensive experience at the company, demonstrating a clear commitment to internal talent. Meanwhile, two new recruits also join the company: Salvador Morales and José Manuel Gómez.

BERGÉ is launching its own port operations model with a new structure at its major ports, featuring 8 managers who will be leading operations at the various ports where BERGÉ operates. This framework, divided into 8 departments, will serve to improve efficiency, optimise resources and strengthen the company’s relationship with customers through a closer, more consistent model based on the quality of service.

Through these new job posts, the 8 officers will be responsible for managing local port operations, reporting to BERGÉ’s Chief Operations Officer, Juan José Ballesteros. This will allow for greater autonomy at each port, while establishing a single governance model to streamline processes, ensure consistency and standardise operational excellence throughout the network.

These managers will also act as direct liaisons between BERGÉ and ports—including both customers and port authorities—strengthening the company’s presence at each location and ensuring a solid, professional image aligned with the company’s values.

New recruits

The latest recruit under this structure is Salvador Morales García, who will be leading operations at Sagunto Port. He has 18 years of experience in port operations, including in container, Ro‑Ro and bulk terminals, and has also worked on operational transformation and digitalisation projects. His arrival follows the recent recruitment of José Manuel Gómez, who has over 10 years of experience in operations and logistics management both in Spain and abroad. He will be leading port operations in Huelva and Cadiz.

Besides these new recruits, the new team of port operations managers is primarily made up of professionals with a solid background at BERGÉ, demonstrating the company’s commitment to internal talent and personal development.

This new structure reinforces the operations model that BERGÉ has been gradually developing over the last few years, following the implementation of a central operations hub in Madrid to ensure a cross-cutting approach to logistics operations. This project, now completed, has prioritised technology as means to provide greater quality of service, ensuring the same standards across all ports. This not only ensures more streamlined planning, but also more effective management of operations-related data and information with a view to designing better service offerings.

BERGÉ is a key player when it comes to port operations, offering the sector extensive geographical coverage, storage capacity and the committed service that customers need.
