BERGÉ continues to modernise its assets and has taken delivery of a new Liebherr LHM 550 crane at the Port of Santander as part of its ambitious investment programme, which also covers terminals and infrastructure, consolidating BERGÉ’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
This new crane joins five other cranes that have already been delivered to the ports of Bilbao, Tarragona and Huelva, as part of a gradual delivery process that began in September 2024 at the Basque port. These cranes are all designed to offer greater operational efficiency, while helping to increase the competitiveness of these facilities.
The crane delivered to Santander will be used for industrial bulk, agri-food, iron and steel, project cargo and general cargo operations. As is the case with the other cranes, the crane delivered here is the LHM 550 model, which has a reach of 54 metres, a maximum load capacity of 144 tonnes and 26% less fuel consumption.
It also features mechanical insulation measures to minimise noise and reduce noise pollution in the work area, as well as the LiDAT Smart App Maintenance programme, which offers real-time insight on equipment status and performance.
BERGÉ has a presence in 27 ports in Spain and France (Bayonne), offering the sector extensive geographical coverage, storage capacity and the localised expert service that customers require. Figures show that it handles over 30 million tonnes of goods each year and that it is the leading consignment company, servicing almost 10,000 ships annually.
