BERGÉ has been re-evaluated under SQAS (Safety & Quality Assessment System) in the Transport module for its operations at the Port of Cartagena, as part of the company’s commitment to safety, quality, the environment and sustainability. This refers to the evaluation system created by Cefic (The European Chemical Industry Council).

The evaluation resulted in an overall score of 73%, and will remain valid until November 2028, enabling the company to meet the requirements set by its customer Repsol.

The main changes and improvements include greater risk management and control of subcontractors, the measuring of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the implementation of the BBS Programme to improve driving safety, and special protocols for operations in Repsol (PPE, route planning and document control).

BERGÉ also recently obtained the French ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 9001:2015 certifications for its operations at the Port of Bayonne. These certifications have several implications for the company, including the involvement of workers in risk identification, emergency planning and regular testing, control over key operational processes (such as the storage and delivery of goods) and the implementation of criteria for selecting and evaluating suppliers.

In total, the company manages five million tonnes of steel products each year across 27 ports in Spain and France (Bayonne), making its extensive transport network, storage capacity and localised expert service available to its customers wherever they are.
