Specifically, the company is now backed by ISO 9001 and 45001, which refer to occupational health and safety management and quality management.

November 2025. BERGÉ has obtained the French ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 9001:2015 certifications for its operations at the Port of Bayonne, allowing it to progress further in this sector with regard to occupational health and safety management and quality management.

On the one hand, the international standard ISO 45001:2018 aims to help organisations prevent injuries and health problems in the workplace and improve their performance through a systematic approach. Meanwhile, ISO 9001:2015 outlines the principles and requirements for organisations to manage processes that ensure product or service conformity, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.

In the realm of port management, both of these certifications imply the involvement of workers in risk identification, emergency planning and regular testing, control over key operational processes (such as the storage and delivery of goods) and the implementation of criteria for selecting and evaluating suppliers.

Customer satisfaction is the best proof of BERGÉ’s quality standards, but the company also has general and specific certifications issued by Lloyd’s Register and SGS for each of its business areas. As a shipping agent, the company is also backed by ISO 14001:2015, ISO 27001, FONASBA (FQS) Quality Standard for shipping agents and brokers, the Guide to Good Environmental Practices (Puertos del Estado) and the Quality Framework (Puertos del Estado).

650,000 tonnes per year in Bayonne

BERGÉ manages CELSA’s steel operations at the Port of Bayonne (France), handling an estimated 650,000 tonnes per year. This comprises three products in particular: coils, billets and scrap.

This contract alone represents 25% of the goods that move through the Port of Bayonne every year. Loading operations for coils are mainly destined for northern Europe, while those for billets are bound for A Coruña. In total, the company manages five million tonnes of steel products each year across 27 ports in Spain and France (Bayonne), making its extensive transport network, storage capacity and localised expert service available to its customers wherever they are.
